Story #27 is based on the young adult novel written by #JohnGreen ‘An Abundance Of Katherines’.

A math-loving protagonist named Colin Singleton wishes to advance himself from the status of prodigy to that of a genius. Colin develops a theorem to account for the fact that he's been dumped by nineteen girls, all named Katherine.

Colin uses mathematical equations throughout the novel, some of which are explained in the book’s appendix by mathematician Daniel Biss, a friend of the author. The book also includes an appendix explaining functions and graphs.

Biss also mentions the work of psychologist John Gottman and mathematician James Murray on the mathematics of marriage.
A mad math problem Colin comes up with and wants answers to is this:
*Who ends a relationship?
*Why does it end?
*When does it end?

Colin works out a mathematical formula to solve these (Nah- the formula doesn’t work in real life :P).

Do give the book a read if you’re a math buff.
