How about mixing cricket and maths for a story and making kids fall in love with maths, and what better time to bring in this story when IPL is about to start, right!?
I stumbled upon one such entertaining audio book called ‘#crickematics’ and that's our story #20.
It is the story of cricket-crazy Anirudh who has nightmares about mathematics. But eventually, his love for cricket teaches him to love mathematics too, thanks to his coach who trains him to integrate cricket and mathematics. The short story is about a young boy who loves cricket but is weak in mathematics. “Someone who cannot calculate averages cannot be a cricketer” is what the coach tells him. To help the boy understand the subject, he converts mathematical problems to cricketing problems. After all, if Anirudh is good at calculating the asking rate in a match in a jiffy, he can extend the same mathematical logic to his exam paper too, right? So Anirudh discovers a new subject: Crickematics!
Crickematics is about learning math through the game of cricket. “Maths is related to cricket. The game has statistics, run rates and averages. Anyone who follows cricket will understand the math component in it,” says Anshumani Ruddra, the author of Crickematics.
The Wall #RahulDravid has lent his voice for this series and the music for the audio CD is by Usha Uthup and Shankar Mahadevan.
This is a beautiful campaign designed and promoted by Karadi Tales.
