Inspired by Julia Evans' blog post Get your work recognized: write a brag document, I hosted an informal writing session with Rubber Ducks, a New Mexico-based community for women in tech. We sat down for an hour and a half to write down this year's career accomplishments and next year's goals.
The goal for writing a brag doc is to have a clear and concise record of improvements we've made at work, as a way to advocate for raises and promotions. It's also nice to review and reflect on the past year. During the final twenty minutes of the workshop, participants were invited to share their document or brainstorm and receive feedback.
