I go through life in project mode. I try learning different things and see what sticks. This way I got into competitive shooters, marathons, bouldering, cross-stitching, carpentry, and most recently: DJ-ing. I spent around a month learning to DJ, and played two sets at a festival this weekend.
Of course, I am a beginner DJ, and of course I can hear that my mixes reflect that. Every EQ mistake is painful to hear. But I am also proud of myself for picking up something new and enduring the period where I was very bad at it. I'm a beginner DJ now. Playing in front of a crowd and seeing them enjoy what I prepared was a great feeling, and I feel that DJing will stick with me for a while.
That's why I'm not embarrassed to put my sets out on Soundcloud. It's a digital memory for myself and for people who had fun when I was on stage.
