Casting Assistant on the BLK/OPL Beauty Campaign 2021
BLK/OPL (formally Black Opal) is a long-standing and popular cruelty-free beauty and skincare brand associated with serving the cosmetic needs of Black and melanated women. BLK/OPL was created in 1994 to celebrate black and brown skin in a white-dominated commercial beauty industry. In its quarter-century history, BLK/OPL helped set a tone of inclusion far earlier than more recently inclusive beauty brands, creating both skin-care that directly addresses the specific concerns of skin with more melanin and makeup in shades that beautifully match it. In September 2019, BLK/OPL officially became a Black-owned beauty brand. The brand has been acquired by 2 successful Black businesswomen Desiree Rogers, who was the former White House Social Secretary for President Barack Obama's office and former chief executive officer of Johnson Publishing Company, and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack.
