I recently sold a small side project (nocodeexamples.com) to a maker friend. It's the second one I've sold – but before you think that sounds impressive, it's over a ten year period, and both only for 3-figure sums!

That said, selling another project after a ten year hiatus has inspired me to see the possibilities once again. If you're good a starting projects, but don't like the idea of long term commitment, you don't have to stick with them forever. You can build to sell.
