SIIMA, one of the biggest Indian movie awards was being held in Hyderabad for the first time ever and we were their digital marketing partners.
Emotions ran high since we landed the project as we tried to absorb the huge requirements. Every deliverable baffled us! But, we emerged victorious, and how!
WHAT WORKED:
1. DISCIPLINE
Events are known to be quite chaotic and I am used to be very organized. That’s not a match made in heaven.
I mentally started preparing myself for chaos and discussed that discipline was the only thing
that would get us through.
We used Google Sheets for everything. It was our vault! Any requirement that came in, any idea we had, any post we wanted to create was in front of us.
No one had to ask a third person about the process. Everyone was focused on the task and in that week, nothing else mattered.
Many things changed, as expected. The schedules were being revised all the time (even during the event) and we kept adjusting. It was clockwork for us. No one panicked even for a second all because of how disciplined we were.
2. PLANNING
Events and planning? The matter was laughable because things change (as aforementioned) until the last moment.
We were told that no matter how much we planned, it wouldn’t help. But, we were set in our ways and I did not know any better. So, we planned.
We pushed the client to give us schedules even if they were subject to change. We had daily stand-ups to organize, tweak, and adjust.
I wrote whatever I could beforehand, revised it as needed, and kept giving myself pep talks. :D
I think this helped us stay hyper-focused during the event.
3. TEAMWORK
I am SO proud of the team that worked on SIIMA; I will never be able to express it.
The way everyone owned up, worked responsibly, jumped to each other’s rescue, and KEPT CALM throughout was a treat to experience.
The core team, the team that came in during the event, and the team that worked from home for quality check came together as ONE UNIT.
No one needed to be told what to do. No one was fooling around. Everything just fit into our system.
I think we have cracked the recipe of success and we proved it at SIIMA. A huge shoutout to all those involved – in the front and at the back.
Each one of you is a HERO!
