I am learning by building! That's how I'm going to build my first blog! Every newbie dev starts with this rookie mistake of building and spending so much time on something for which a solution already exists!
The objective is to avoid “tutorial hell” and build first, make mistakes, and then watch a tutorial.
---UPDATE---
The first version of this post said that I was building the blog on statamic. But when I started building, I learned I was not fully prepared to build a blog on statamic. I don't have the skills, and you need PHP and laravel skills to use statamic.
So in line with the intro of the post, "I am learning by building" I made my blog on blogstatic, which I heavily recommend:
1. It was not expensive.
2. SEO friendly.
3. Easy to set up, very cool templates.
4. Very customizable if you have some CSS skills.
5. use it in your custom domain or /blog folder in your custom domain.
6. You Can use it for a newsletter.
7. It is not a commercially controlled solution like a substack.
8. ...so you own your content.
So this is all I need to create a non-commercial blog solution:
blogstatic - $19 USD per year
Carrd - Simple, free, fully responsive one-page sites for pretty much anything - $49 USD per year
Basic CSS skills
A domain with my name
