Updated a Product Feature
Several months ago I made Riffbase, a web application that enables people to create and save riffs from Spotify songs. I launched it on Product Hunt and managed to get valuable feedback from a few people.

While monitoring the users' activity, I noticed that a good percentage of them didn't get to experience the value proposition of the product because of an error: Spotify needs an active device in order to play songs.

What I put in place back then was a popup dialog explaining to them what is this error and what they should do about it. Despite my best intentions, there was a huge user dropoff from the point of this error appearing onwards.

Now, instead of trying to proactively inform the user about what they should do to get around an error, I updated the product to not have this error in the first place so they don't have to do anything. There is no need anymore for the user to already have an active device to play riffs - Riffbase is the device.

This update massively improves the user experience of Riffbase. I have several other improvements in the pipeline, but I feel like this was a significant one that will serve as a good foundation for what is to come. If you didn't check out Riffbase yet, please do and feel free to message me with your thoughts - feedback is always appreciated!
