Won 'youngest author to be published in a newspaper', I was told. Not sure if that was even true at the time. I think it was hyper-specific: 'youngest author to be published in a newspaper in Illinois'.

I distinctly remember being both offended by the hyper-specificity, by the attempt at the state to 'own' the state of my birth, and I was genuinely embarrassed by the attention. I did get a physical award though, and I'm pretty sure somebody younger won a few years later.
