7 years today I moved to Barcelona and had the Spanish of roughly an 18 month old. I'm back working from Barcelona this month and spotted this jar. It reminded me of the time a few weeks in when I confidently asked a shop owner if he had any "mantequilla de cocaína" (which translates to "cocaine butter"). I in fact meant "mantequilla de cacahuete" which is "peanut butter" (very different).
So, today celebrating the vast improvement in my Spanish skills and saying thank you to the city (and shopkeepers) that helped me gain a new language.
