It's often the first question I get about my consulting firm - how do you pronounce it?
e-sky-well? e-skee-well?
In fact, it's like this : s - key - well.
So why stick with a name that causes confusion? Because it has a deep meaning both to me and to my mission (a better way of work for a better way of life).
Eskywell was the name of the farm that my great grandfather grew up on before coming to north America in the early 1900's.
Great, what does this have to do with our business? Aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners have to take a giant leap of faith at some point in their life to launch their business. Despite all of the research and the preparation, at some point they step off into the unknown and have faith that they have what it takes to make it.
I cannot think of a more daunting leap of faith than that of a man leaving his family and country with nothing but a steam trunk's worth of possessions.
And that is why I decided to honor that idea by naming my consulting company Eskywell.
It's a daily reminder that one man's courage to launch into something new can ripple through generations.
