For the past year, I've been a contributor, in technical expertise and content writing, for a tabletop role-playing game named Stillfleet: a political sci-fi game set 100 million years in the future.
Think "Dutch East India Trading Co" meets "Stargate", but set mindbendingly far ahead in the future. As a player, you are a "voidminer" (as in "someone that mines the voids of space"), an employee of the company for better or worse (often the latter).
Today, we are launched our https://www.kickstarter.com/.../the-stillfleet-core-rulebook">Kickstarter!
It will run for the duration of August. If (when!) we fund, our deliverables include: a hardback copy of the Core Rulebook (written by the team), a softcover copy of an adventure ("The Rain Thieves", written by me!!!!), PDF copies of the same, and the usual t-shirt, pins, and stickers paraphernalia.
Our goal is a modest $7,000, but we want to really blow past that if possible (there are stretch goals!). My industry friends tell me that the first week, the first few days in particular, are critical in determining the success of the campaign. We have a contract with a really great printer in place and anticipate all printed deliverables should be early next year; targeting February.
Will a vaguely pro-labor / anti-imperialisti roleplaying game with unique rules save the world? No. Is it super fun, and do I hope y'all can help us reach new potential players by pledging a few bucks? Hell yes!
