Coded a beta Sportsbook!
Okay, so to be totally honest, lately I've been gambling on sports way more than I should be. But something weird is happening... I'm actually winning! Lady luck is smiling down on me and I couldn't be more grateful.
With that being said, sports betting is on my mind HEAVY. So, I decided to put my developer skills to the test and try to build my own sportsbook and bet tracking website! I got the name Locks from a betting group chat I have with some friends.
The site is only, like, 70% functional, and it doesn't allow you to put money in, but it has more bet-tracking capabilities than I've ever experienced in another online sportsbook. I think it's probably intentional they don't offer an easy way for you to see your bet history, all in one place.
Locks Features
- Custom Wordpress Theme, designed and built from an empty skeleton theme using PHP, Javascript, AJAX, Bootstrap, MySQL, CSS, and HTML of course.
- Fine tuned back-end functions and arithmetic to determine bet payouts.
- An interactive dashboard featuring showing your bet history and net balance over time, in both a chart (thank you Chart JS!) and list format
- Ability to Tag games as headline events
- Much more!
I hope to share Locks with some friends soon and get feedback moving forward.
UPDATE: As of 1/19/22, this project has been put to the side while I work on my genesis NFT collection, Noodls! I hope to come back to Locks one day and create an amazing crypto inspired, web3 forward sportsbook.
