Here I share my personal journey growing up in Singapore as a gay man, from coming out to self-acceptance. It isn't a smooth-sailing journey but I'm happy I got to where I am today. I'm grateful for all the people who loved and accepted me for who I am.
At the end of the article, I was asked what I will say to my 13-year-old self. This was my reply...
"Dear 13-year-old Andee. Be brave. Hold your head high even if you face nasty people because they’re there to make you stronger. You may have to go through a lot of tough times alone and feel lost along the way, but don’t forget to be kinder to yourself and know your worth. Yes, you’re worth more than you think! Stay excited about the future. I bet it’s going to be an exciting journey. I love you so much!”
